Einstein’s Theory Stays – Neutrino Not Faster Than Light

“Neutrinos are faster than light”–  The finding by the scientists of CERN gets a final nail in the coffin. Scientists of the CERN themselves confirmed that neutrinos were not faster than light.

Last year OPERA (experiment behind the first faster than light finding) found out than neutrinos were faster than light, neutrinos were making the 454-mile (730-kilometer) underground trip between the two labs more speedily than light, arriving there 60 nanoseconds earlier than a beam of light would. The results were checked and rechecked before it was published. But lately scientists of CERN found out that such a thing happened due to faulty fibre optics system in the lab, besides that many labs around the world tried to recreate OPERA findings. But none of them succeeded, every time those experiments obeyed Einstein’s theory.

If it was true, it could have been the greatest discovery and it would have meant an end to Einstein’s theory and could have completely swiped off all the basic realtions behind optics. Better to say it would have been like starting from the letter A.
“The story captured the public imagination, and has given people the opportunity to see the scientific method in action — an unexpected result was put up for scrutiny, thoroughly investigated and resolved in part thanks to collaboration between normally competing experiments,” Bertolucci (Research Director at CERN) said. “That’s how science moves forward.”
