Asus Eee Pad Slider

Right from the first time I saw this one I was struck by it’s  sharp contrast to the regular tablet design and who doesn’t like a change?….. It is that twist from the regular that is going give Asus’ new Eee Pad Slider an edge over the other tablets. At the first look we see a regular tablet, and a bit too bulky one I should say with 273 x 180.3 x 17.3mm dimensions and at 960g, it’s almost twice the profile of an iPad 2.It’s 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 IPS screen  gives us a lot of space for Android 3.2(though it actually comes with an Android 3.1 we can upgrade it once we connect it to the internet and the 4.0 version is coming out soon)  to work on.  It’s Tegra 2 dual core processor provides some good graphic performance and multitasking but is also a lot too common these days. There’s 1GB of RAM to keep multitasking smooth, along with 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, though a microSD card slot means you can boost this. Wi-Fi is present up to 802.11n, as is Bluetooth.

But all this regularity finds the end when you grab the top of it and pull it up, that is when the screen lifts and sits at an angle to reveal the built in keyboard. Around the sides, you’ve not only got your microSD card slot, but also the Lock key, a volume rocker, a reset button that’s far too easy to press, a mini-HDMI port for video output, Asus’s proprietary connection for USB connectivity and charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a full-size USB port.

All this would mean that it won’t be as cheap as the transformer but in the end there will be no need to regret.
